Real-Time Crude is an optional module which allows the workup of a full assay using an infrared (IR) spectrum.
Note:
A Real-Time Crude licence is required in order to enable the IR option in AssayUpdate, and the Real-Time Crude Assay option in the New assay menu.
Infrared analysis of a crude oil sample can now be used as an input into assay generation using Real-Time Crude. Such IR analysis can be completed in a matter of minutes from a small (~20ml) sample, and the resultant spectra imported directly into Assay. This rapid sample analysis and workup allows the generation of assays in almost real-time, allowing more timely decisions to be made.
Assays can be worked up using the new Real-Time Crude Assay option, or the existing AssayUpdate module. AVEVA recommends that such workups should include at least an IR spectrum, the traded crude name, and whole-crude measurements such as density.
Real-Time Crude builds upon the proven predictive power of the standard Assay modelling, which allows the generation of complete assays from sparse laboratory data using traditional wet chemistry methods. An IR model has been developed to work alongside this, allowing a complete assay to be generated from an IR spectra, with the resultant assay containing all the information present in an assay worked up using traditional laboratory data.
This predictive capability is built upon a wide range of crude samples, where IR spectra and traditional assay measurements for the same crude sample have been used to train the IR model. AVEVA are continuing to develop the capabilities of the IR model, and would invite interested parties to work with us to further enhance our model training set.
