AssayUpdate document screen

An AssayUpdate document allows you to determine the complete description of a crude oil, given measurement data ranging in scope from just two or three measurements, through to complete crude assays. Assay intelligently uses its knowledge of crude oil behaviour to generate the crude description most consistent with the input data, flagging up and deweighting any values which lie outside the range of its statistical model. The generated crude contains complete information, for all properties, and may subsequently be added to the database and manipulated in the same way as a standard Database crude.

AssayUpdate uses a Basis Crude as a starting point for profile generation, adjusting the generated profiles to match the new measurement data you enter while ensuring that the newly generated profiles are consistent with the original basis crude.

For more details, see AssayUpdate in depth.

To create an AssayUpdate document:

  • Click the Icon Add showing plus sign button at the bottom of the Document Navigator and choose AssayUpdate from the menu.

  • Click the New button in the Document group of the Home ribbon tab and choose AssayUpdate from the menu.

Once an AssayUpdate document is created, the measurement grid becomes available for data entry, and the Profile Graphs become available for viewing profiles of the generated crude.
