Textual filter

Textual filters allow you to match against textual criteria. To add a textual filter condition, select the Textual Filter radio button option. Each textual filter comprises three parts: a database field on which you filter; an operator that determines the filter's behaviour; and a user-defined text string against which values of your selected database field are matched.

The leftmost box controls the database field against which you are filtering. You can filter on any of Name, Reference, Origin and Traded Crude by selecting the appropriate entry from the drop down list.

The text matching behaviour of the filter is determined by the middle box. You can set the behaviour of the filter either to matches or does not match. When the matches options is set, the filter matches against all crudes in the database meeting your input textual criteria. When the does not match option is set, the filter matches against all crudes in the database that do not meet your input criteria.

Enter your filtering text into the rightmost text box. You can use a wildcard "*" to match any number of characters in the text string, including none. For example, when filtering by name, entering Ar* in this field will match all crude names that begin with the letters Ar. Entering only "*" in the text box instead will match against all crudes in the database.
