Import filters

You can import and export sets of custom filters, in order to share work with your colleagues. To import a set of custom filters, click the filter import button Icon import. Shown as an open folder with a green arrow indicating it is opening in the Filter configuration dialog window.

Dialog Import filters. Allows a set of filters to be imported.

The Import Filters dialog allows you to select which saved filters to import into Assay. The Importable Filters list shows the filters in the saved files and the Existing Filters list shows the filters currently registered in your copy of Assay.

Any filters shaded green in the existing filters list are system filters and cannot be edited or deleted by a user.

To import filters select their names in the Importable Filters list and click the Transfer button. Imported filters are shown in the Existing Filters list in blue text.

If any of the filters selected for import have the same name as any local filters a dialog offers the opportunity to rename the imported filter. Each filter must have a unique name.

If any of the filters selected for import have the same filtering conditions as any local filters a dialog offers the opportunity to re-import the filter with a different name, or overwrite the existing local filter or cancel the import process.

If a filter relies on other installed filters for its conditions a dialog shows which other filters must also be imported. The Dependencies dialog lists those filters which must be imported along with the selected filter. Click OK to import these filters as well.

Dialog Dependants. Filters can be based on other filters. This dialog shows the based on filters that must be imported.

To rename Existing Filters select a filter and click the Rename button. In the dialog enter a new name for the filter.

To delete an existing filter select the filter in the list and click the Delete button. If other local filters require the filter selected for deletion these must also be deleted. A Dependencies dialog shows the filters which will also be deleted. Click OK to delete the filters as well, or click Cancel to close the dialog without deleting any filters.

After you have selected the filters for import and renamed any filters as required click the Import button to complete the import process. Changes are not made until you click the Import button. A dialog shows you if the import process was successful. To cancel any changes you have made, including any deletions, click the Reset button before you have clicked the Import button. The Reset button returns the list of filters to its original state before any import operations were started.
