Residue graph toolbar

The standard graph functions are available on the Residue Graph toolbar. Other options available include:

• : Enable the intelligent cross hairs See Cross hairs.

• : Show the graph information dialog. See Graph information dialog.

The following options are available only when using a generation module that supports editing of crude descriptions. See Document pages:

• : Select and modify measured values or guide points on the property profile.

• : Add a guide point to the property profile.

• : Remove a guide point from the property profile.

• : Toggle the activity status of an h-bar on the graph.

The following options are always available:

• : Toggle the guide points on the profile graph.

• : Toggle the H-bars on the profile graph.

• : Toggle the profile curves on the profile graph.

• : Toggle the property constraints on the profile graph.

• : Toggle options for displaying confidence intervals, base crudes and blend constituents on the graph.

Selecting Crudes

It is useful to select a crude when:

• You wish to identify a particular crude amongst a large number of displayed Property Profiles

• You wish to use Cross Hairs See Cross Hairs below.

To select a crude, click on the line corresponding to your chosen crude in the Graph Legend. When a crude is selected on the Graph in this way, the residue profile corresponding to the selected axis will change from a full line to an animated line.

Additionally, if a selected crude has associated measurements for that profile, these will be shown on the graph.

Cross Hairs

It is possible to graphically determine both the instantaneous values of any property distribution for any crude, correctly evaluated according to the relevant blending methods and indices. The feature in the Graph Module which allows this is called Cross Hairs. It allows tracing the Residue Profiles shown in the Residue Profile graph.

You can toggle the cross hairs on and off in one of the following ways:

• Pressing the button on the Graph Toolbar.

• Typing ctrl-H.

• Right-clicking on the graph area and choosing Cross Hairs from the context menu.

  

Tracing

To activate the residue profile tracing behaviour, make sure the correct crude is selected by checking the Graph Legend. See Graph Legend in Residue graph content.

Click once on the Graph. The point on the selected crude's Residue Profile nearest to the position where you clicked will be calculated, and the X axis property and Y axis property values will be shown both on the Graph and in the dialog box.

Alternatively, when the X axis is set to either residue or cumulative yield, enter a value for the X axis in the CumYld or ResYld fields in the upper part of the dialog. The corresponding value for the other axis will be shown, and the Graph will show a line extending from this point on the Residue Profile to both the X and Y axes, annotated with the X axis property and Y axis property values.

Both the X line and Y line drawn on the graph may be selected and dragged to a new position. When you move the cursor to either line, the double-arrowed cursor will appear, allowing you to drag the line to a new position. Values both on the graph and in the dialog box will be instantly updated.

Normally when dragged in the graph view, the lines jump to the next graph interval. If you want the lines to move more smoothly, press the shift key while dragging with the mouse.

Graph Information Dialog

The graph information dialog allows you to see h-bars or guide points corresponding to the currently displayed property profile in a separate floating dialog.

To launch the graph information dialog, you can:
