Perform a unit conversion

You can use existing conversion formula to convert between any pair of units for any unit category. For example, the units gravity and metres per second squared for the unit category Acceleration.

Open the unit manager by clicking the units button in the Managers group of the Reference Data ribbon tab.

1. Select the unit category

   Select the unit category of interest by double clicking on the appropriate unit category on the left hand side of the Unit Manager. All of the units for this unit category will be displayed.

   

2. Select the first unit in your pair

   Suppose you are interested in converting between grams per litre and pounds per barrel. Each of the units may be expanded, by means of the button on the left hand side. Choose one of the units in the pair that you want to check, and expand it.

   

3. Select the conversion you wish to perform

   You will see the formula symbol indicating all the unit conversions which Assay can handle from that unit. Select the conversion formula of interest.

4. Enter value to convert

   On choosing the type of conversion you wish to perform, the right hand side is reconfigured to show the algebraic form of the conversion formula, in both directions. That is, the forward conversion and the inverse, or backward conversion.

   

   To perform a numerical conversion, select any number from either of the edit boxes, or type in any number of your choosing. The other box will instantly update according to the conversion formula.
