The components grid type can be used to enter data for individual molecules obtained using GC methods. The property list on a Components page is restricted to individual molecules. Molecules in the components list are ordered alphabetically. Component names can be pasted into the grid from other applications such as Microsoft Excel. Assay will attempt to recognise the component's name.
The components list can be configured to show information about the entered components. This information includes:

Name: a configurable field for an alternative name for the component

Formula: the molecular formula of the component

Boiling point: the boiling point of the molecules at standard pressure

DEN@15°C: the density of the component at 15°C

Carbon Number: the total number of carbon atoms in the molecule

Carbon/Hydrogen Ratio: the ratio of carbon atoms to hydrogen atoms

Type: the type of molecule either P for Paraffin, I for Isoparaffin, N for Naphthene or A for Aromatic.

Calculated Whole Crude Abundance: the amount of the particular component present in the whole crude calculated from the amounts present in each cut along with the respective cut's yield.
Calculated Whole Crude Abundance
For a components type measurement grid a Calculated Whole Crude Abundance column may be added as a header column. This column shows the amount of each component present in the whole crude. This is calculated from the amount of the component present in each stream, and the relative yields of the streams.
In order to calculate the amount of a component present in the whole crude you must enter the amount of the particular component present in each stream along with the yield of the stream. When entering the values they must all be entered with the same measurement type. That is if you enter component measurements as % by volume, the yield must also be present as % by volume. The yield must be entered in the Measurement Grid - it is not possible to calculate the values using the modelled yield. If a component is not present in a stream the cell in the Measurement Grid can be left empty.
Calculated Whole Crude Abundance can be used along with flowsheet based streams. In this case components may be present in more than one assay stream. Enter all the component data that is available.
