Standard and advanced grid

Click the View button at the bottom of the window to choose between the Standard and Advanced grid. These are equivalent to the standard and advanced measurement grids in assay generation tools such as AssayWorkup. See AssayWorkup.

The Advanced grid shows the following additional pieces of information:

  • Confidence level: A qualitative factor for scaling the uncertainty. It aims to provide a quick means for approximately characterising the uncertainty associated with a measured value. By default it is set to Normal. The Custom option allows you to set the uncertainty to an exact, user-defined value.

  • Test method: The test method used in establishing the measured value. The combination of property and stream determines the choices of test method available in the list. The test method is set to Unknown by default, but may be chosen if known. Uncertainties are updated to reflect the method.

  • Uncertainty: The uncertainty associated with the measured value. Formally, it asserts that the real value of the measurement falls in the range measured value ± uncertainty with 95% confidence. The uncertainty is calculated automatically from elements such as the test method and confidence level, but you can click the value and type a new value over it. When you do so, the confidence level is automatically set to Custom.

  • Deviance: Measured in uncertainties, it describes how far off a generated value is from the corresponding measured value, in terms of the uncertainty (of the latter). Formally, the deviance is equal to (generated value - measured value) / uncertainty.
