Sort by multiple properties

Worked example: At an Indonesian refinery of your oil company, most of the crude refined is Cinta, a heavy Indonesian crude with a low naphtha yield. The steadily increasing demand for naphtha has meant that profitability is now more strongly driven by naphtha production than ever before. To supplement the heavy crude, you would like to add light crudes to the feed mix for your atmospheric distillation unit to boost the naphtha yield. How do you find out which Indonesian crudes are light?

1. Add a new property column for API

   Ensure the Database is open by clicking the Database document in the Document Navigator.

   

   Add a new property column API Crude (IBP)-(FBP).

   

2. Configure the sort dialog

   

   Select Sort from the View menu to open the Sort dialog. Click Clear All to reset its settings.

   

   Select Origin from the Sort items by combo box. If not selected, set the Ascending option button.

   

   Select the API column you created from the first Then by box. If not selected, set the Ascending option button.

   

3. View the light Indonesian crudes

   Click OK. The crudes in the database are sorted by origin then API. Now you can easily scroll to the light Indonesian crudes.
