Graphing preferences

Graphing preferences control the display and representation of data on Assay graphs.

General Settings

Several different settings are available to control the appearance of graphs in Assay.

Show measurements as h-bars on graph: Underlying measurements including uncertainties are drawn on the graph as h-bars.

  • Show reproducibility on h-bars: Uncertainty is represented as the typical reproducibility of the standard test method.

  • Show 95% confidence interval on h-bars: Uncertainty is represented as the range within two standard deviations of the normal reproducibility.

  • Shade between measured and recut value: The difference between fitted and actual values is shown by coloured shading, where the colour of the shading illustrates the current method used to indicate uncertainty.

Show guide points on graph: Manually entered guide points used to shape property profiles are displayed on the graph as open circles.

  • Show precision on guide points: The uncertainty of the guide point is displayed along with the actual measurement.

Show molecular data on graph: Default property values for individual molecules, such as density, are shown on the graph as filled circles where available.

Show distillation data on graph: When available for an assay, the distillation data is plotted on the cumulative yield property profile along with the generated property profile.

Hide yield bars for overlapping cuts: When a cut covers the same temperature range as a number of narrower cuts, select this option to hide the larger cut from the Property Bar Graph.

Maximum number of curves showing information: When more than two crudes are plotted on the graph, for clarity the information indicators (guide points, molecular scatter and h-bars) are not usually shown. Using this control you can allow the information indicators to be seen when more than one crude is plotted.

In addition, advanced graphing options allow you to tailor the graph drawing according to your hardware capability:

  • Use enhanced graphics: Speeds up graph drawing and improves appearance by using graphics hardware (where available) and by anti-aliasing and double-buffering all graphics.

You can also control graph copying settings:

  • Include axis label: When this check box is selected, axis labels are included in any graph copied to the clipboard using the graph copy option. When the check box is cleared, axis labels are omitted from graphs copied to the clipboard.

  • Include legend: When this check box is selected, the graph legend is included in any property profile or residue profile graph copied to the clipboard. When the check box is cleared, graph legends are omitted from profile graphs copied to the clipboard. This option has no effect for scatter graphs that are copied to the clipboard.

    The Stacked Graphs options control how the profiles for graphs are shaded:

    • Shade stacked graphs: Shades beneath the property profiles for graphs displaying several properties (such as PNA) if the Stack graph option is selected for the graph axis.
