Variable names

Variable names must meet the following rules:

  • The first character is a lower case letter in the range [a-z], or an upper case letter in the range [AZ].

  • The subsequent characters are either lower case letters in the range [a-z], upper case letters in the range [A-Z], or numerals in the range [0-9].

  • The name is not a reserved word included in the list of formula operators.

    The following are examples of illegal names:

    Parentheses characters () present in identifier

    Minus sign character - present in identifier

    Space character present in identifier

    Identifier names a reserved word.
