The Recut Crude option allows you to recut any crude in the Database to a product, using either perfect or flowsheet cuts. After recutting, the product is automatically added to the Database, from where it can be used just like any other Database crude. See How to use the database.
To recut a crude, do either of the following:
-
Click Recut Crude in the Database group of the Home ribbon tab, and choose Recut to Stream from the menu. For this option to be available, the Database view must be active, with a single crude selected.
-
Right click on the crude in the Database view and choose Recut to Stream from the menu.
The Recut Crude dialog window opens. You then need to specify the following information:
-
Source crude: The source crude provides measurements for the product. This option is filled with the crude that was selected in the Database view, but you can change it. Select a source crude from the Crude drop down list, or browse for a source crude by clicking the
button.
-
Name and Reference: The name and reference serve to identify the product. Enter a name and reference for the product in the Name and Reference fields respectively.
-
Recutting method: You can choose to recut the crude using either perfect or commercial cuts by clicking the relevant option button, as described in the next section.
Once you have configured the required options, generate the product description by clicking the Recut button. The product description is generated and added automatically to the Database, from where it may be manipulated in the same way as other crudes in the Database.
Alternatively, cancel the recutting operation by clicking the Cancel button.
Recutting Options
Crudes in the Database can be recut using either perfect or flowsheet cuts.
To recut a crude using perfect cuts, set the Perfect Cut option button. In the cut control, either select a predefined perfect cut or configure a custom cut by entering your own start and end cut points. You can configure the range of available predefined perfect cuts from the Standard Cuts page of the Preferences dialog. See Standard cuts.
To recut a crude using commercial cuts, select the Flowsheet Cut option button and choose the desired flowsheet cut from the list on the right-hand side of the dialog. Note that you can only choose to recut as a flowsheet product if you have previously configured a flowsheet. See Create a flowsheet.
