Pane Streams page. List of cuts available in the document

The Streams page lists the cuts of oil available in the document. You may enter cuts on the Streams page before entering any assay data, or streams can also be imported from flowsheets. Alternatively, streams are automatically created matching the cut points you enter in the measurement grid. See Create a flowsheet.

Dialog Configure Stream.

Follow these steps to add a new stream.

  1. Do any of the following:

    • Click the Add button at the bottom of the Streams page.

    • Double click on any empty area of the page.

    • Right-click anywhere on the page and choose Add New Stream from the context menu.

The Configure Stream dialog box opens.

  2. Enter a unique Name for the stream.

  3. Choose a Type for the stream. You can choose among the following:

    • Perfect: a cut with perfect fractionation.

    • Blend: made by pooling the complete yields of two or more other streams.

    • Flowsheet: a flowsheet cut which accurately model the separation obtained in a distillation unit, allowing for the overlapping of components between different product streams. You must have created or imported a flowsheet on the Flowsheet page for this option to be available.

    • None: an inactive stream with no properties. Useful if you want to create a placeholder to configure later.

  4. The following step depends on the type of stream you have chosen:

    • For a Perfect stream, enter the initial and final Cut Points, and choose the correct unit of measure. You may use IBP and FBP as the initial and final boiling point of the stream.

    • For a Blend stream, select the check box in the Selected column of the Component Streams next to each stream you want to add to the blended stream.

    • For a Flowsheet stream, select the stream from the Flowsheet Stream list. Note that this will update the stream name if you haven't already changed it. Optionally, enter the Nominal Cut Points for the stream. These values are not used in any calculations but simply label the stream.

  5. Click OK. The new stream is added to the list.

Tip: There are alternatives to entering streams one by one on the Streams page:

If you have defined a flowsheet on the Flowsheet page, you can copy all the streams in the flowsheet into the Streams page. Right click anywhere on the page and select Add All Flowsheet Streams from the context menu.

You can add streams directly to the Measurements grid. The Streams page is automatically updated with the new streams and any subsequent edits. See Enter data.

To edit a stream, select it and click the Edit button to open the Configure Stream dialog box. Alternatively, double click on a value in the Streams page and type a new value. It is not possible to change the stream type in this way.

To edit several streams at the same time, select multiple rows in the Streams page and click to edit the required property. Any edit will be applied to all selected streams.

To delete a stream, select it and click the Remove button. The stream will be removed from all measurement grids. Any values entered for the stream will remain in the grids, but they will not be used in any calculations.
