Before downloading updates for the first time, you need to tell Assay how to connect to CrudeSync. In particular, the application needs to know:
-
A server address for CrudeSync. Your version of the application will be shipped pre-configured with the correct server address for your organisation. In general, you should not need to supply a server address for CrudeSync.
-
A user name and password for access to CrudeSync. These may correspond to your Microsoft Windows login credentials, or may be distinct login details. You can obtain your CrudeSync user name and password from your local administrator for Company Name - AVEVA products.
To configure the application with your user name and password for CrudeSync, follow the instructions given below.
Note: You only need to perform this procedure once, prior to checking for database updates for the first time.
-
Click the ribbon menu button, to the left of the Home ribbon tab. The main application menu opens.

-
Click the Preferences button. The Preferences dialog opens.
-
Open the Standard folder in the left-hand pane of the Preferences dialog and select Database Updating.

-
In the Authentication section, do one of the following:
-
If you are using AVEVA Connect then click the AVEVA Connect authentication option button. Then click Sign in and enter your AVEVA Connect details.
-
If you are using your Windows credentials to connect to CrudeSync, click the Integrated Windows authentication option button.
-
If you are using separate credentials, click the Basic Authentication option button.
In the Username field, enter the username for CrudeSync supplied to you by your local administrator for AVEVA products. Most usernames have the form SECURE\YourOrganisation.crudesync, where YourOrganisation is the name of your organisation or an abbreviation of it.
In the Password field, enter the password for CrudeSync supplied to you by your local administrator for AVEVA products. Note that your CrudeSync password is case sensitive.

Click Apply to apply your settings.
Once you have entered your account details click the Test Account Settings button to see if you can successfully connect to CrudeSync. You will need to be connected to the Internet to perform this check.
If the test is successful, click OK to close the Preferences dialog. You are now ready to download available updates from the CrudeSync server.
If the application is unable to connect to CrudeSync, it will respond with an error message. In the event of an error, check you have entered the correct credentials and try again. If the problem persists, contact your local administrator for AVEVA products for assistance.
