Crude interchange file export

The .cif format allows the export of all assay data and the complete crude description of one or more crudes. The .cif file holds exactly the same information as a native .cdb file, but is not locked to a single organisation. Normal .cdb files can only be opened by users from within the same organisation. .cif files remove this restriction allowing the export of the complete crude data to other organisations who use Assay and other compatible AVEVA applications.

Crudes can be exported in .cif format from both the Database and the documents. From the Database, you can export either a single crude, or a selection of crudes. From a document, you can export only the crude currently being processed.

Export from the Database

To export one or more crudes from the Database, select the crudes to be exported and do either of the following:

• Choose Export from the Document group of the Home ribbon tab.

• Right click and choose Export from the context menu.

From the Export submenu, select the Crude Interchange File option.

Export from a Document

To export a crude from a document in .cif format, select Export from the Document group of the Home ribbon tab. From the Export submenu, choose the Crude Interchange File option.

Agree to the Licence Terms

The Crude Interchange File format allows the exchange of rich assay data between different organisations. Unlike other report formats produced by Assay the .cif format includes all assay data included in a Document. As such much of this information may be proprietary or confidential.

When exporting .cif files you must agree to the terms and conditions for export as defined in the export licence agreement. Select the check box indicating you have read and understood the licensing terms and click OK. This opens a Save As dialog from where you can browse for a location to which you can save your crude data in .cif format.
