User crudes are crudes that you have created and added to the Database or that you have imported from the file. An unlimited number of such user crudes (system constraints notwithstanding) may be added, to supplement the standard Databases shipped with your copy of Assay.
There are presently a number of ways in which a user crude can be added to the Database:
-
A crude generated using AssayWorkup is added to the database. See AssayUpdate.
-
A crude generated using the AssayEditor is added to the database. See AssayEditor.
-
A crude generated using AssaySynthesis is added to the database. See AssaySynthesis.
-
A crude generated using ProductSynthesis is added to the database. See ProductSynthesis.
-
A crude generated using AssayUpdate is added to the database. See AssayUpdate.
-
A crude generated using the BlendAnalysis Module is added to the database. See BlendAnalysis.
-
A crude generated using the Blend is added to the database. See Blend.
-
A crude is imported into Assay from an external file. See Import crude data.
-
A crude is converted from a model based representation to a profile based representation. See Crude descriptions.
Copy crudes to the user database

Crudes present in the assay libraries you licensed with Assay can be copied to the User Database where they can be fully edited. To do this, select the crudes in the database and do either of the following:
-
Right click and choose Copy To User Database from the context menu.
-
Click Copy To User Database in the Database group of the Home ribbon tab.
Remove user crudes
To remove crudes from the database, select the desired crude or crudes (see Crude selection), and do one of the following:
-
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
-
Right click and choose Delete Crude from the context menu.
-
Click Delete in the Document group of the Home ribbon tab.
A warning will appear, asking if you wish to remove the selected crude or crudes from the database. Choosing Yes will permanently delete the selected crudes from the database.
Only user crudes may be deleted from the database. These are shown colored blue in the database. Standard crudes, shown in black, are a core part of the shipped application and cannot be deleted.
Regenerate a crude
Updated releases of Assay may include an updated statistical model. User crudes will not be automatically updated when a newer version of the tool is installed. Existing assays can be regenerated using the new model by selecting the required assays to update and doing either of the following:
-
Clicking Regenerate in the Database group of the Home ribbon tab.
-
Right clicking the assays and selecting Regenerate using latest modelling from the context menu.
