Custom report templates must be edited in Microsoft Excel (or compatible), and then saved in the correct folder location for the product to recognise them. To create a report template:
-
Create a new Excel workbook, or create a copy of an existing template.
-
Enter data retrieval calls in the different worksheets to retrieve crude data, See Define custom report templates.
-
Save the new Excel workbook in the folder described below.
The custom report definitions used by the product are saved in the folder
%AppData%\Spiral Software\SpiralAssay\Common\ReportDefinitions\ExcelTemplates
Where %AppData% is the Windows application data directory for the logged in user.
For example, for the user jdoe, the default path would be
C:\Users\jdoe\AppData\Roaming\Spiral Software\SpiralAssay\Common\ReportDefinitions\ExcelTemplates
It is possible to enter %AppData% directly in the Windows Explorer dialog to browse to the correct location.
Create the ExcelTemplates directory if it does not exist already.
Tip
Create a copy of an existing report template as a basis for a new report, and modify this with required properties. For example, create a copy of one of the predefined templates included in the Common\ReportDefinitions folder of your Assay installation.
