Advanced View of the Measurement Grid

Each cell of the advanced measurement grid displays the following information:

  • Active cell: The check box is ticked if the cell is currently active.

  • Measured value: The measured value for the property/stream combination.

  • Uncertainty: The uncertainty associated with the measured value. Formally, it asserts that the real value of the measurement falls in the range measured value ± uncertainty with 95% confidence.

  • Generated value: The generated value for the property/stream combination.

  • Deviance in uncertainties: The deviance in uncertainties describes how far off a generated value is from the corresponding measured value, in terms of the uncertainty (of the latter). Formally, the deviance in precisions is equal to (generated value - measured value) / uncertainty.

  • Test method: The test method used in establishing the measured value. The combination of property and stream determines the choices of test method available in the drop down list. The test method is set to Unknown by default, but may be chosen by the user if known. Uncertainties are updated to reflect the method.

  • Qualitative confidence level: The qualitative confidence level is a factor for scaling the uncertainty. It aims to provide a quick means for approximately characterising the uncertainty associated with a measured value. By default, it is set to Normal, but it may be configured by the user. In particular, the Custom option allows you to set the uncertainty to an exact, user-defined value.

The advanced view of the AssayWorkup measurement grid supports all the functionality of the standard view. It is the default view for the Measurement tab in the AssayWorkup Module.

In addition, the advanced view of the AssayWorkup measurement grid supports the following extra functionality:

Editing of subcells

Set the qualitative confidence limit

In AssayWorkup, you can edit the measured value of any cell simply by double-clicking on it. In addition, you can also edit the uncertainty associated with the measured value. To do this, select Custom from the qualitative confidence limit drop down list. This allows you to set the uncertainty to your own user-defined value. You can edit the uncertainty value by double-clicking on it. By default, the qualitative confidence limit is set to Normal for each cell in the grid.

Editing selections of cells

Editing any selected range of cells, contiguous or not, changes the edited item in all selected cells for the following cell information:

  • Active cell

  • Measured value

  • Test method

  • Qualitative confidence level

  • Uncertainty.

You can prevent the loss of your selection by the edit action by holding down the Ctrl or Shift before editing.

Cell tab support

When a cell comprises a set of components, as in the advanced measurement grid view, you may use the Tab key to move between the individual components of the cell. When a cell is comprised of a single component, such as in the standard measurement grid view, the Tab key tabs between cells. This is similar behaviour to that of Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet software.
