Guide points

Guide points allow you to control the shape of the profile you are fitting. See Guide Points.

Original, converted and calculated guide points

Several different types of guide point can be shown on the graph. You can change the type of guide point shown by pressing the button on the Profile Graph Toolbar. See Profile graph toolbar.

Types of guide point available include:

• Show Originals: When this option is selected any guide points you have added to the Profile graph are shown. For example, guide points would be shown on the graph if the Y-axis of the Profile graph is set to density at 15.6°C and you added guide points at 15.6°C.

• Show Converted: When this option is selected guide points are shown on the Profile graph if guide values for a property can be converted into the unit of measurement selected for the active Y-axis of the Profile graph. For example converted guide points would be shown on the graph if the Y-axis of the Profile graph were set to density at 70°C and you had provided guide points for density at 15.6°C.

• Show Calculated: When this option is selected, guide points are shown on the Profile graph if values for the property on the active Y-axis of the Profile graph can be calculated from other guide values present. For example, calculated guide points would be shown if the Y-axis of the Profile graph were set to density at 15.6°C, but only guide points for specific gravity had been provided.

Remove guide points

The context menu, which you can access by right-clicking anywhere on the graph, has the following options to delete guide points:

• Delete All Guide Points for Crude: Select this option to remove all existing guide points from the property profile graph that have been added to the crude in the currently active generation module.

• Delete Guide Points for [Active Y Axis Property]: Select this option to remove all guide points from the property profile graph added to the crude in the currently active generation module for the property currently selected on the active Y axis. All guide points added for other properties on the graph will be left unchanged. For example, if the active Y axis is set to Density at 15°C, all guide points added for the density property will be removed from the graph, including any guide points added at temperatures other than 15°C, such as 70°C.

• Delete Guide Points for [Active Y Axis Property having specific configuration]: Select this option to remove all guide points from the property profile graph added to the crude in the currently active generation module for the property currently selected on the active Y axis having the specific property configuration configured in the active Y axis property control. For example, if the active Y axis is set to Density at 15°C, only guide points added for the density property at 15°C will be removed from the graph. Guide points added at temperatures other than 15°C, such as 70°C, will not be removed from the graph.
