About message fields

Diagnostic messages consist of four message fields:

• Level

• TimeStamp

• Description

• Long Description

Level

The severity level of the message. For a description of each level, see Understand message severity levels.

TimeStamp

The millisecond time-stamp records the exact creation time of the diagnostic message. For service messages displayed in the Server Messages window, this is the system time on the server computer that hosts Server. For messages generated by Studio in the Output window, this is the system time on the computer that hosts Studio.

Description

A predefined short text string that describes the event.

Long Description

A predefined long text string describing the error message with more detail than the short Description field.
