You can use the OPC DA variables configuration tool to import variables from the OPC DA server into the project and delete variables from the project. That is, you use the configuration tool to specify the configuration that you want for the project, and then you apply the configuration.
Note: Changes to the project are not persisted to the OPC DA server until you save the changes in the project.
Prerequisite
Add the OPC DA data source and data connection.
To import and delete OPC DA variables
-
Verify that the connection to the OPC DA server is open.
-
In the Project Explorer, right-click the data source, and then click Configure Variables.

The OPC DA variables configuration tool appears, and displays a static view of the OPC DA server as it exists at the time you open the tool. If the variable configuration on the OPC DA server changes, the changes do not appear in the OPC DA variables configuration tool until you click Refresh on the tool.
-
Use the tool controls to filter, sort, and group variables according to your requirements.
-
Take note of the variable mapping indicators to distinguish the variables in the list.
-
Select the check boxes of the variables that you want to import into the project, and clear the check boxes of the variables that you want to remove from the project.
-
Click OK to commit the changes.
