Splitting enables a single Downtime event to be split into two separate events. This enables you to assign an individual cause, cause location, and classification to each newly split Downtime event.
Guidelines for splitting Downtime records
-
A Downtime record requires a duration of more than 5 minutes before you can split the record.
-
A new Downtime record created as a result of a split is at least 1 minute in duration.
-
Check that the appropriate comments are added to the original record, prior to splitting.
Important: Split records cannot be unsplit, take due care when you split records.
Example: An example of a delay record that requires a split
-
An asset stopped for 4 hours due to mechanical breakdown. Two hours were lost because the appropriate technician was not on site. It took two hours to repair the issue.
-
The original delay would be split into 2 x 2 hour delays. The first delay would be classified as ‘Manning Insufficient’ and the second delay ‘Cracked Fractured’.
To split a Downtime record
