About Sample Identifier

  • Last UpdatedMar 10, 2025
  • 2 minute read

The SampleIdentifier standard field is an identifier for movements that AVEVA™ Production Management matches with a unique RecordIdentifier field on a Quality record. The SampleIdentifier and RecordIdentifier are matched when the Material Quality reporting point has a QualityMatchingStrategy of ByRecordIdentifier.

Example: RecordIdentifier matches with SampleIdentifier movements

For example, two movements into StockpileA have a SampleIdentifier of ESID1. Later, when you add a Quality record, you enter ESID1 in the RecordIdentifier field.

AVEVA Production Management uses the unique value entered in the Quality RecordIdentifier field to match the record with any movements where the SampleIdentifier is ESID1.

Sample Identifier inheritance

For a SampleIdentifier to be inherited, both the source and destination equipment must share the same Material Quality reporting point.

Example: Sample Identifier inheritance

In the diagram, the SampleIdentifier is inherited for a movement between Work Center 1 and Work Center 2, because they both share the Material Quality reporting point at the Site level.

For a movement between WC2 and WC3, the SampleIdentifier is not inherited because they do not share the same Material Quality reporting point.

When a material movement is into a lot, the lot obtains the Sample Identifier.
