Energy identifies and quantifies potential energy savings and helps your production facility to operate at its peak energy effectiveness. It identifies where, how, and why energy is being wasted, and delivers visibility and control over energy consumption and usage.
By reporting when your process is over-consuming energy (energy events), as well as energy consumption, Energy provides an analysis of production energy usage and causes. This information empowers you to identify new savings opportunities, stabilize energy usage, order new equipment, and improve operating procedures.
By automating the capture of energy events, you free operators from paperwork and remove inaccuracies and inconsistencies of manual systems.
Energy in more detail
Energy monitors energy demand (for example, kW) against a target and captures instances where the demand exceeds the target. Energy captures the start time, the end time, the amount of excess energy consumed, and other contextual information (for example, crew, shift, material, grade). Figure 1 shows an example of energy usage that exceeds a target, and the highlighted area is the amount of "over-consumption" that is captured.

Energy consists of the following core functions:
-
Data collection – Automatic record creation on occurrence of an energy event or manual entry.
-
Editing and validation – Add additional energy details and energy event confirmation through the client interface.
-
Information view and analysis – Data presentation for analysis.
AVEVA Production Management applies these rules when energy events are processed:
-
When an energy event occurs in the system as per user-defined energy rules, the system automatically creates an energy event record.
-
Applies a permitted delay before reporting (Start Delay and Stop Delay).
-
The operator can add additional information to the energy event, such as cause, classification, or comments.
-
The supervisor can confirm that new events are completed and correct.
-
Only confirmed data is used, which adds another level of trust to your reporting.
-
Management can make use of the energy event and report information for analysis purposes.
