AVEVA™ Production Management uses work order table fields to read the external work order table fields and to display work order requests in AVEVA™ Production Management. Work order table fields do not exist in a database table, and they do not store data. They are items that appear in Project Explorer, and they represent the fields of the external work order table.

The work order table fields and their properties do the following:
-
Provide AVEVA™ Production Management with an internal representation of the external work order table fields so that AVEVA Production Management can read from and insert data into the external work order table.
-
Specify which fields of the external work order table AVEVA™ Production Management reads for work order number, equipment ID, and originator.
-
Specify the order of work order table fields in Studio and columns in the Results Grid of AVEVA™ Production Management.
-
Specify which fields are filterable in AVEVA™ Production Management.

When you add the work order table in the Project Explorer, the Fields folder does not automatically contain fields. The Populate Fields operation adds representations of external work order table fields to the Fields folder. You can then configure the representations so that AVEVA™ Production Management can properly read from and insert data into the external work order table and display work order requests in AVEVA™ Production Management. You perform the Populate Fields operation for the work order table only once.
