The Operations Model contains a collection of operation definitions in AVEVA™ Production Management.

An operation definition specifies the resources required to perform a specified operation. The operation as a whole can be broken down into multiple segments.

An operations definition is a core activity that occurs at a Site. For example, a mine site may have operations definitions of Cleaning, Pre-processing, Processing. You can add operation definitions under the Operations Model folder in the project hierarchy.

Operation definitions

As defined in the ISA-95 model, an Operations definition specifies the resources required to perform a specified operation. In, AVEVA™ Production Management the definitions can be applied to define Inventory operations. An Operations definition is associated to one or more Operations segments.

An Operations definition shows the following attributes:

  • ID: uniquely identifies the operations definition.

  • Version: An identification of the version of the Operation definition.

  • Hierarchy Scope: Identifies where the Operations definition fits within the equipment hierarchy.

Operations segments

An Operations segment provides the information required to quantify a segment for a specific operation. An Operations segment has the following attributes:

  • ID: uniquely identifies the Operations segment.

  • Version: An identification of the version of the Operation segment.

In ISA-95, an Operations Segment is associated to one work master, which defines the resources required to perform a unit of work. In AVEVA™ Production Management, this function is provided by the material constraint item that defines the information required to perform an Inventory movement.

An operations segment is an activity or sub-activity of an operations definition that occurs at a Site. For example, a mine site may have operations segments of Dismantle Equipment, Pressure Hose, and Reassemble Equipment under the Cleaning operations definition. Operations segments can be multi-layered and have their own operations segments to cover all sub-activities. You can add operations segments under the Operations Definition folders in the project hierarchy.
