When lots have a lot group assigned to them, and this lot group is specified as having preference, AVEVA™ Production Management processes according to normal FIFO and LIFO rules, but disregards any lots that to do not belong to the specified lot group.
In the scenarios shown in the Explaining Lot Groups diagram.
-
Work Center 1 - This work center has a lot behavior of FIFO. The lots are assigned to lot groups. When a request for a transaction arrives, the transaction specifies only lots from Lot Group A. AVEVA™ Production Management moves material in order of earliest timestamp first, but only from lots belonging to Lot Group A. In this case 300 units are requested. AVEVA™ Production Management moves 200 units from Lot 1 and 100 units from Lot 4 to satisfy the transaction request.

Work Center 2 - This work center has a lot behavior of LIFO. The lots are assigned to lot groups. When a request for a transaction arrives, the transaction specifies only lots from Lot Group C. AVEVA™ Production Management moves material in order of latest timestamp first, but only from lots belonging to Lot Group C. In this case 500 units are requested. AVEVA™ Production Management moves 300 units from Lot 3 and 200 units from Lot 1 to satisfy the transaction request.
