How to use the sketching tools and controls

Refer to the following table for information on how to use the sketching tools and controls

To

Do this

Show or hide gridlines

On the Sketchpad toolbar, click Show/Hide Gridlines.

Display the Toolbox palette

In the Palette Selection pane, click Toolbox.

Display the History palette

In the Palette Selection pane, click History.

Choose a sketching tool

Display the Toolbox palette, and then click the sketching tool.

Specify pen width

In the Pen Width box, type a value or click the spin buttons.

Specify transparency (opacity)

In the Transparency box, type the value or click the spin buttons.

Specify line color

On the Color palette, left-click the color.

Specify fill color

On the Color palette, right-click the color.

Reverse the line color and fill in the Active Colors

In the Active Colors pane, click one of the boxes.

Reverse the line color and fill color of an object as you draw it

Drag with the right mouse button.

Add a shape or line

  1. Specify pen width, transparency, line color, and fill color.

  2. On the Toolbox palette, click the sketching tool that you require.

  3. Point to where you want to draw the object.

  4. Drag to draw the object.

Draw a freehand shape that automatically connects the point where you start drawing the shape with the point where you stop drawing the shape.

  1. Specify pen width, transparency, line color, and fill color.

  2. On the Toolbox palette, click Closed.

  3. Point to where you want to draw the object.

  4. Drag to draw the object.

    Add text

    1. Specify pen width, transparency, line color, and fill color.

    2. On the Toolbox palette, click the Text tool.

    3. Point to where you want to draw the object.

    4. Drag until the Text Size indicator matches the text size that you require. When you release the mouse button, a text-entry box appears.

    5. Type the text that you require.

    6. Click OK.
