Add and configure an AVEVA connection

The AVEVA Connection is an item that specifies connection settings to an AVEVA™ Historian, such as server name and user authentication settings.

Note: The AVEVA Connector library was formerly called the Wonderware Connector library.

Connection status

The data connection uses pinging, which is a mechanism to monitor the health of the connection to verify valid connectivity. AVEVA™ Production Management displays the connection status in the ConnectionState property of the data connection.

Prerequisite

Add and configure an AVEVA data source before adding the data connection.

To add an AVEVA data connection

Note: A datasource can contain one or more data connections.

1. In Project Explorer, right-click the data source, and then click Add Connection. A Connection item appears.

   

2. Rename the item with a meaningful name.

3. Configure the properties. For guidance in configuring the properties, see AVEVA data connection properties.
