Perform a Genealogy search

You can perform a search on Inventory data to produce genealogy results. Specifically, genealogy results is Inventory data that is collected through Lot reporting point fields.
The Genealogy wizard enables you to find information, such as:

What vendors batches were shipped to a customer?

What ramp/strip/block from the Mine was loaded onto a train?

What customers were shipped material that was processed at location A between certain times?
In addition to providing the answer to these questions, Genealogy also enables you to visually see the path in which material flowed.
Two-tiered filtering
The genealogy search finds lots that are related to one or more other lots.

Starting Filter - Identifies the lots for which you want find the related lots. You can provide several filtering options to restrict the starting lots to a useful list. From these starting lots, Genealogy discovers the related lots and returns the result list.

Results Filter - After the related lots are found, you may be interested in only a subset of lots, such as those of a particular material or with a lot property of a certain value. You can apply a second filter to further refine the search query. The results filter is optional and not required.
To perform a Genealogy search

On the toolbar, click Perform a Genealogy Search. The Starting Filter screen of the Genealogy wizard appears.

Enter the parameters for the starting genealogy query.

Click the Location button to open the Filter on Location dialog box. Navigate the hierarchy to make a selection and select the check box next to that location.

Right-click a location in the hierarchy to have the option to Select with parents or Select with children.

Click the Material button to open the Filter on Material dialog box. Select the check box next to the required material.

Next to Lot, enter the lot identifier.

Click Sample Period to open the Filter on Sample Period dialog box. You can choose an existing period definition, or define custom dates for the search window of time.

When you have finished making your selections, the Starting filter form is filled in.

Click Next.

(Optional) On the Results Filter screen, you can enter a second filter to further refine the results. This step is optional and you are provided the opportunity to further refine the results after seeing the results list.

Click Finish. The Genealogy Results screen displays.
