Recover on-premises historical event data to backfill data gaps in the CONNECT data services caused either by data source or connection issues, or both, using the history recovery tool for AVEVA Production Management.

Prerequisites

To recover historical data

  1. From the Start menu, under the AVEVA folder, run Production Management History Recovery Tool as an administrator.

  2. On the History recovery window, specify the following details:

    • Adapter URL - This is the agent's default URL, appended with the Production Management history recovery URL, and is filled in by default. (http://localhost:5590/api/v1/configuration/ProductionManagementEventData/HistoryRecoveries).

Important: Do not change the default URL unless the agent is configured to listen to a port other than 5590.

For more information on history recovery related end points, see History recovery REST URLs in the AVEVA Events to CONNECT online help.

    • Start dates and End dates - This is the datetime range of the historical data that you want to push to the CONNECT data services.

    • Chunk size - This is the interval by which the total hours of historical data within the specified range will be divided, reducing the load on the curator service by making multiple calls. This accepts a maximum of 96 hours.

  3. Note the current time and select Start. You'll use the noted time for the Backfill Start Date Time field in step 4.

In the Recovery progress table grid, you should see the interval entries displayed with a Completed status.

The tool retrieves data based on the specified start and end time.

  4. After completing the historical data recovery process, when the Start button is visible again and all interval entries show Completed status, set the DataCollectionMode parameter from HistoryOnly back to CurrentWithBackfill to resume normal curation operations.

To ensure that you are back to normal curation operations, follow these steps:

    1. In the AVEVA Events to CONNECT Configurator plugin window, under Events to CONNECT node, select Settings.

    2. On the Data Ingress tab, under Data Source tab, expand the Defaults section.

    3. On the Data Collection Mode drop-down list, select CurrentWithBackfill.

    4. Enable Backfill Historical Data option, and specify the backfill start date time. This option allows AVEVA Events to CONNECT to backfill data from the date time value specified in the Backfill Start Date Time field.

    5. Reenter the client secret and select Validate. On successful validation, select Configure.

For more information on these backfill field properties, see History recovery.

If the UTC option is enabled, ensure that the time you enter is in UTC format.

Important: To avoid missing any new data, set the backfill start date and time to when you began the history recovery. As a precaution, consider adding extra time. You can check for the time you started the history recovery process in the log file (%ProgramData%\OSIsoft\Adapters\EventsToCONNECT\Logs)
