Consider the following:
Actor = Jim
Alternate Actors = Richard and John
The following configuration scenarios for alternate actor are possible:
Scenario 1: For all workflows and all activities of all workflows with delegation type as Delegate
In this scenario, either one of the following combinations are possible.
When Option 1 is set for an alternate actor, Option 2(a) and Option 2(b) cannot be set. When Option 1 is not set, both Option 2(a) and Option 2(b) can be set to co-exist provided the From date and To date in both Option 2(a) and Option 2(b) does not overlap.

Option 1: Here the Actor is Jim and the Alternate Actor is Richard. The delegation type is set as Delegate. The From date and To date is empty provided the Date Configuration Flag for Alternate Actors is set as false in the Central Configuration site for the repository. The Consider Only During Absence is set as True or False.
