Personalize Scope in Web Parts

In the AVEVA Work Tasks Web Parts, users can work with two personalization scopes:
-
User Scope
-
Shared Scope

Default behaviour
-
By default, all home pages open in User Scope.
-
When a user switches to Shared Scope, the home page appears empty unless an administrator has already configured Web Parts in that scope.
-
Clicking Reset User Scope will remove the user’s customizations and restore the default Web Parts as defined in Shared Scope.
Note: Shared Scope initially contains no Web Parts. If an administrator adds Web Parts to Shared Scope, all users will see them in addition to their own User Scope Web Parts.
For example, if Shared Scope has 2 Web Parts and the user has added 3 in User Scope, the user will see a total of 5 Web Parts.
Scope behavior and permissions
User Scope
-
Individual users can personalize Web Parts in User Scope.
-
Personalization includes editing properties or permanently deleting the control (if allowed).
-
If a user personalizes a property that also exists in Shared Scope, the User Scope value takes precedence.
-
If user-specific data is lost or reset, the property reverts to the Shared Scope default.
-
Users can close shared Web Parts for themselves, which moves the control to the Page Catalog, but they cannot delete shared Web Parts permanently.
Shared Scope
-
Web Parts added in Shared Scope are visible to all users.
-
An authorized user (such as an administrator) can personalize Shared Scope properties for all users.
-
Dynamic controls (added programmatically or from a catalog) can be permanently deleted by an authorized user.
-
Static controls (declared in the .aspx page) cannot be deleted but can be closed for all users.
Per-user controls
-
Per-user controls are only available in User Scope.
-
These controls are not visible and cannot be personalized while in Shared Scope.
