Group Columns

This section provides detailed procedures to group the columns in a particular order in the view.

Columns can be grouped for better organizing of your list item columns. You can group columns of similar or related information. You can group the columns in expanded mode or collapsed mode.

Scenario

Consider the case of the Support Incident list items. When the Telematics Support Manager logs in and navigates to the support incident list, there can be many records in the list. The Manager can group similar columns of information for display either in the collapsed mode or in expanded mode.

To group columns in the view

  1. In the Enterprise Console, click the Menu button, click Lists, and then click Support Incidents. The Support Incidents list items page appears.

  2. Go to the View drop-down list field and select Create View.

  3. Type the name Status for this view of the list.

  4. In the Group Columns field, select the Collapsed group mode. You can see that the Group Columns field gives a provision to give three group column conditions. To give more conditions, click Show More Columns.

  5. Select the Incident Status from the Group Column by drop-down list.

  6. Select the Ascending or Descending option.

  7. In the then group by drop-down list, select Incident Type and select Descending order.

  8. Click the Show More Columns button to include another group condition Incident Origin and select the Ascending order.

  9. Click Create View.

To view the group columns view

  • Select the Status view from the View drop-down list in the Support Incidents list screen. You can see the specified grid columns grouped according to your specifications.

    If you had selected the Expanded mode, then the Incident Information would be in hierarchical order.
