Scope of Rights

Scope for Security Rights

Some rights will be applicable only at the repository level which are of scope:

  • Repository- If it is a Repository scope, the rights will appear at the Repository level. For example: Calendar rights, Work items list rights, Queue rights.

  • Queue - If it is a Queue scope, the rights can be applied only at Queue.For example: Can Add New Queue and Can View Queue Control

  • Calendar - If it is a Calendar scope, the rights can be applied only at Calendar.For example: Can Add Calendar, Can Delete Calendar, and Can View All Calendars.

  • Work Item - If it is a Work Item scope, the rights can be applied only at Work Item.For example: Can Forward Work Item, Can Set Alternate Actor, and Can View Work Item Control.

Some rights will be applicable at only at the list level which are of scope:

  • AcrossListForListOnly - If it is a AcrossListForListOnly scope, the rights can be applied only at the List level not at the ListItem level across all lists.

  • ListSpecificForListOnly - If it is a ListSpecificForListOnly scope, the rights can be applied at only at the List level not at the ListItem level for a specific list.

Some rights are applicable only at the listitem level which are of scope:

  • AcrossListForListItemLevel - If it is a AcrossListForListItemLevel scope, the rights can be applied only at the ListItem level across all lists. For example: Can Publish an Item

  • ListSpecificForListItemLevel - If it is a ListSpecificForListItemLevel scope, the rights can be applied only at the ListItem level for a specific list. For example: Queue, Calendar and Work Item

Some rights are applicable both at the list level as well as the listitem level which are of scope:

  • AcrossListForListLevel - If it is a AcrossListForListLevel scope, the rights can be applied at the List level and ListItem level across all lists. For example: The Can Add Item right can be applied at the List level and ListItem level.

  • ListSpecificForListLevel - If it is a ListSpecificForListLevel scope, the rights can be applied at the List level and ListItem level for a specific list. For example: The Can Design Workflow right can be applied at the List level and ListItem level for list Workflow.

Some rights are applicable at all the levels which are of scope:

Global –  If it is a Global scope, the rights will appear at all levels in the site. For example: Manage Security
