Manage Data

Manage data by creating, exporting, and importing Excel Template with List Columns for both CustomList and Generic List table. The template has three rows - Column Name, Data Type, and Size.

To create and import List Template

  1. In the Enterprise Console, click Menu button, click Tools, and then click Manage List. The Manage List page appears.

  2. On the action bar, click Manage Data.

    Note: You can set the security rights to manage data in the Lists by enabling or disabling the Can Manage Data option in the Modify a Security Group page for the selected List. For more details on enabling or disabling manage data security right, refer Set Security of Lists.
    This security right is available for other features too, but it is applicable only to manage data in the Custom List and Generic List.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Create a schema of the table in the form of Excel Template.

    • Click Create List Template from the Ribbon Bar.

      Excel template gets created with three rows (Column Name, Data Type, Size)

      where, Column Name is the Mapped Xml node in the List Designer if it is changed. Otherwise, it is the Column Name from the table.

      Excel Template gets downloaded in the Downloads folder with the filename ListName_DateTime.xlsx.

    • Import list data in bulk through the Excel Template that was created.

      Note:
      - Before importing, fill data in the Excel Template created using Create List Template option.
      - Ensure that Date and Time value is in server or local culture and Boolean field has the value as True or False.

    1. Click Import List Data from the Ribbon Bar.

    2. Select the file to be imported i.e. Excel Template file filled with list data.

    3. Click Import to insert the data into the list.

      The list data gets imported in bulk in the form of Excel Template with three rows (Column Name, Data Type, and Size).

      • Export list items to the Excel sheet to export the list data in bulk.

      • Click Export List Data from the Ribbon Bar.

      Note:
      - The Create List Template, Import List Data, and Export List Data options support the Lists with Parent table only.
      - You can upload up to 5000 records in the List Template excel file using Import List Data option.
      - You need to provide data in all the Columns which are marked as mandatory in the excel template.
      - Ensure that you do not have the duplicate values for the primary key columns while filling the data in Excel Template.
      - Modifying Column Name or adding new columns in the Excel Template is not supported.
      - There is no validation of the data entered in Excel. Hence, make sure the value is entered as per the datatype mentioned.
      - Attachment Control in the list is not supported while exporting or importing the list data.
