AVEVA Work Tasks has the provision to search or sort within a lookup data. Lookup controls provide the essential function of helping you maintain data integrity in your database environment.

Assume that, you have created a lookup called PurchaseOrder. See Create a Lookup for a Database Table and Create a Lookup for a List to know how to create a lookup.

In this scenario we will learn how to sort the lookup data in the ascending order of ReferenceNo. In the  second part, we will see how to search for a purchase order for an item with ItemName that contains the term DEL. This can be achieved by setting the property accordingly while designing the form.

Note: To search or sort within a lookup data, you have to set the following property in the  Lookup Input Property window.Select Yes for the Display Filter option or select No for the Show as Drop down option.

Having set the property to search or sort the lookup data while designing the form, now let us examine how it works:

To sort the lookup data in the ascending order of ReferenceNo

  1. Preview your form.

  2. Click the the Search button icon near the PurchaseOrder ReferenceNo field. All the items in the Purchase Orders list are displayed in the grid form.

  3. Click the ReferenceNo column heading to sort the lookup data in the ascending order of ReferenceNo.

To search for a purchase order for an item with ItemName that contains the term DEL

  1. Click the Filter button on the Item Name column header to see all the filter options that are available for that column's cells displayed in the filter list.

  2. Click Contains.

  3. Click the text box and type the parameter as DEL.

  4. Again click the Filter button on the Item Name column header and select the Apply All Filters option. The results of the filtering are displayed.
