Forms Designer

Forms Designer is a "what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG)" web-based design tool, with a drag-and-drop capable interface, to create rich web-based forms. Forms designer supports direct drop, smooth scroll, and device previews.

  • Drag a control from the toolbox to the canvas to add the control to the form.

  • Drag a control on the canvas to move or clone a control on the form.

  • Edit tags inline and manage actions for controls with an on demand control shortcut menu.

  • Create complex responsive layouts without affecting the schema with smart controls.

  • Select columns and adjust column widths with ease.

Use Forms Designer to create rich forms with various controls.

To access Forms Designer

  1. In the Enterprise Console, click the Menu button, and then click Forms. The Forms page appears.

  2. Right-click on a form, and then click Design Form (or click on a form, and then on the action bar, click Design). The Forms Designer page appears.

Forms Designer interface has an action bar, toolbox, and canvas.

Action Bar

Action bar has commands to manage the form and controls on the form.

Clear the controls.

Preview the form.

Validate form associated with the list.

To manage the visibility of the action bar

  1. In the Enterprise Console, click the Menu button, and then click Forms. The Forms page appears.

  2. Right-click on a form, and then click Design Form (or click on a form, and then on the action bar, click Design). The Forms Designer page appears.

  3. Do one of the following:

    Task

    Action

    Hide the action bar.

    On the action bar, click the Arrow button. The action bar is hidden in the Forms Designer except for the Arrow button.

    Show the action bar.

    Click the Arrow button at the top of the Forms Designer. The action bar is shown in the Forms Designer.

    Toolbox

    Toolbox has categories to group controls for designing the form. The size of the toolbox can be changed from three columns to one column to increase the size of the canvas.

    To manage the size of the toolbox

    1. In the Enterprise Console, click the Menu button, and then click Forms. The Forms page appears.

    2. Right-click on a form, and then click Design Form (or click on a form, and then on the action bar, click Design). The Forms Designer page appears.

    3. Do one of the following:

      Change size of the toolbox from three columns to one column.

      On the toolbox, click the Arrow button. The size of the toolbox is changed from three columns to one column.

      Change size of the toolbox from one column to three columns.

      On the toolbox, click the Arrow button. The size of the toolbox is changed from one column to three columns.

      Canvas

      Canvas is the area in the Forms Designer where the form is designed by dragging controls from the toolbox. Dragging is also supported for repositioning and copying controls.

      Control Shortcut Menu

      Control shortcut menu has commands to manage the control. Point to a control on the canvas to access the shortcut menu.

      Command

      Description

      Move

      Move the control to the desired location on the canvas.

      Clone

      Create a copy of the control and then move it to the desired location on the canvas.

      Delete

      Delete the control.

      Replace

      Replace the control.

      Properties

      Edit properties of the control.

      To access control shortcut menu

      1. In the Enterprise Console, click the Menu button, and then click Forms. The Forms page appears.

      2. Right-click on a form, and then click Design Form (or click on a form, and then on the action bar, click Design). The Forms Designer page appears.

      3. Point to the control on the canvas. The Shortcut menu appears.

        Note: To design a form or edit an existing form in Forms Designer, the Workflow Management Forms Server license has to be acquired.
