You can secure activities of categories, then expand the required category and select the required activities under it to include or exclude in the Process Designer window.

Example: The following example illustrates how to exclude the Task and Work activities from the Human Activities for a Contributor user.

To achieve the same, perform the following steps:

  1. Login as a user who belongs to the Contributor security group.

  2. From the Enterprise Console menu, select Workflows.

  3. To open the Process Designer window, select any workflow and click Design on the ribbon bar or right-click the workflow and select Design Workflow from the context menu.

  4. Before the security settings are changed, the Contributor user can access the Task and Work activities from Human Activities.

  5. As per the example, this user should not have access to the Task and Work activities. To apply security for these activities in the Process Designer window, login to the application as an Administrator user.

  6. Click Repository Settings > Advanced Settings > Manage Security Groups.

  7. Select the Contributor security group and click Edit or right-click Contributor and select Edit from the context menu.

  8. Click Set Process Designer Rights to set action rights.

  9. Unselect the Check for Inclusion check box.

  10. Select Task and Work activities to exclude from the Process Designer.

  11. Click Save.

  12. Click Save to save the Security Group definition and synchronize it, if required.

  13. To see the effect of the security provided to the Activities for the Contributor user, login as a user who belongs to the Contributor security group.

  14. Open the Process Designer window.

  15. Select Human Activities from the Activities drop-down menu. Notice that the Task and Work actions are not displayed in Human Activities.

  16. After security is applied, the Contributor user can view all activities other than the selected activities.
