The Create Package Template option allows you to create package template from the Manage Package page. The package template with the same name as the installed package, will be created in the Package Template window.
Note: When you want to create package template from a package having a list item enabled with security group, the security group will not be added to the package template.
In the Additional Settings of the Edit Package Template window, there is an option to choose to display Create Package Template option in the shortcut menu of the Manage Package page.
To choose the options available in the Additional Settings
-
Select and right-click the artifact that you want to package, and then click Add to Package Template on the context menu.
The Select Package Template page appears.
-
Select the package template.
-
Select Package Template Version, Include Associated Artifacts, Include Child Artifacts, Include Security Artifacts, and Include the automatically generated SQL Script.
-
Click Next. The Add to Package Template page appears.
-
In the Configuration section, click Additional Settings.
The Additional Settings page appears on the right pane.
-
For the Create Package Template property, select one of the following:
-
Yes: Allows you to create package template from the Manage Package page.
-
No: The Create Package Template option will not be available in the shortcut menu of the Manage Package page.
The default value is No.
-
-
Click Save Settings.
-
Click Save Template.
The package template settings are saved.
The package template will be created from the manage package definition. If you make any changes in the artifacts, the changes will not be reflected in the package template. In that case, use Rebuild option to get the changes. The version of the artifacts varies from the original package template.
The Rebuild option in the tree view appears irrespective of the artifact modified or not.
While creating a package template, the latest version of artifact available in the target environment will be displayed in the tree view of the version list artifact. If the package is not rebuilt, the artifact which was installed by the package will be added to the package template. However, the tree view displays the latest version of the artifact. If you rebuild the package, the artifact version displayed in the tree view is added to the package template.
If you create an artifact with different version, after the package template is created, then the artifact version displayed in the tree view will be considered, even if you rebuild the package.
Note: The Create Package Template option will be available in Manage Package page only if the option Create Package Templates is selected as Yes under Additional Settings in the Source Environment.
Consider that you create a package template from Manage Package page with Runtime Initialization Settings configured. When you install the package template, the form which is configured in Runtime Initialization Settings will be installed in the target environment in Draft status. You need to publish the form to utilize it in the package template created from the Manage Package page.
Note: In case the form already exists in the target environment, another form is created with the next major version in the Draft status and will get updated in the Package Template.
The Create Package Template option will be available only for the following package status:
