You can secure the properties of activities, expand the required category and activity under that, and select the properties to include or exclude in the Process Designer window.
Example: The following example illustrates how to exclude the 'Re-Assign Allowed?' and 'Alternate Actor Allowed?' properties from the Approval actions for a Contributor user.
To achieve the same, perform the following steps:
-
Login as a user who belongs to the Contributor security group.
-
From the Enterprise Console menu, select Workflows.
-
To open the Process Designer window, select any workflow and select Design from the ribbon bar or right-click and select Design Workflow from the context menu.
-
Before security settings are applied for the properties of Approval activity, the Contributor user can access the 'Re-Assign Allowed?' and 'Alternate Actor Allowed?' properties of the Approval activity.
-
As per the example, this user should not have access to the 'Re-Assign Allowed?' and 'Alternate Actor Allowed?' properties of the Approval activity. To apply security for the properties in the Process Designer window, login to the application as an Administrator user.
-
Click Repository Settings > Advanced Settings > Manage Security Groups.
-
Select the Contributor security group and click Edit or right-click Contributor and select Edit from the context menu.
-
Click Set Process Designer Rights to set action rights.
-
Unselect the Check for Inclusion check box.
-
Select the Re-Assign Allowed? and Alternate Actor Allowed? properties to exclude from the Process Designer. These two properties will come under the Approval activity which is under the Human Activities category.
-
Click Save.
-
Click Save to save the Security Group definition and synchronize it, if required.
-
To see the effect of the security provided on the properties for the contributor user, login as a user who belongs to the Contributor security group.
-
Open the Process Designer window.
-
Select Human Activities from Activities drop-down menu. Drag and drop an Approval activity if it is not there in the existing workflow and right-click the Approval activity and select Activity Properties.
-
You will notice that the Re-Assign Allowed? and Alternate Actor Allowed? properties are not displayed in the Approval Activity Properties.
-
After security is applied, the contributor user can view all properties other than the selected properties.
