Description

Enter a description for the list main form.

Mapped XML Node

This field displays the XML node mapped to the list main form. It allows mapping of a List to a Form and the Form to a Workflow.

Note: Editing the Mapped XML Node at a later instance will affect the mapping between Forms, Lists and Workflows.

DefaultSortOrder **

This property is used to display the list items in a specified order for the dynamic list. You can specify the comma separated column names for list sorting.

Example: In a list, assume that there are columns like OrderNo, Name, Description, Quantity, Price and Total. To sort the list based on the OrderNo, Name and Quantity, specify the Default Sort Order property as OrderNo, Name, Quantity.

Allow Child items?

Select Yes, to allow child items, else select No.

Show All Standard Columns?

Select Yes, to show all standard columns, else select No.

Show Specific Standard Columns?

Type the Standard Columns which you want to display in the grid, separated by commas.

To show the columns; Title, Description, Owner, Version, Item Status, Work in Progress, Workflow Status, and LastModified Date type TitleDescription, Owner, Version, Status, WIP, WFStatus, and LMD respectively separated by commas.

Table name

This field displays the database table name to which the list main form is bound to.

To edit the table, click the Table button and select the required table.

The column names specified in the Default Sort Order property and the actual columns names should be same. If the column name entered in the Default Sort Order property and the actual column name is different then that column will be ignored while sorting.

If a column specified in the Default Sort Order property is not available in the grid then the column will be ignored while sorting. For example, if Default Sort Order property is specified as OrderNoNameQuantity but if the OrderNo column is not available in the grid, then the list will be sorted based on the Name and Quantity columns.

The Allow Sorted property and the Default Sort Order properties are different. By default, the Allow Sorted property of list item is set as False. For example, if DefaultSortOrder property is specified as OrderNoNameQuantity and the Allow Sorted property of the OrderNo is set as True then list items will be displayed with default sort order specified in the Default Sort Order property when the dynamic list is loaded for the first time. If you sort by OrderNo column then list items are displayed based on the OrderNo column.

For faster sorting, index the columns specified in the default sort order property.

Advanced

Field

Description

Default Field

It is the default field used to hold the item details such as item id, version and item type.

The field that is specified in the Default Field will serve the purpose of Title field.

The options Available in grid? and Available in lookup?, should be set as Yes in the List properties dialog for the field that is set as Default Field.

Example: If the field Name is specified as Default Field, then the control Name should be edited and the options Available in grid? and Available in lookup? should be set as Yes.

Id

The reference identification code in this field is generated automatically.

Unique Title?

Select Yes for the title to be unique, else select No.

Unique Field

This field works as a unique key to the List. The list item is identified based on the unique key. Every list can have a unique key defined, based on which the list item is identified. Given a scenario where the user creates an Order List with Order Type, Order Category, and Order ID fields. Since the Order ID is the uniquely identifiable key for this list, it becomes the unique key.

In addition, the user can assign multiple fields to a unique key. For example, in an 'Employee List' which has First Name, Last Name, Address, Age etc., the user can assign the First Name and the Last Name as the Unique Key for this list item.

Note that the user is not restricted to use only string values (first name and last name are a part of the type string). The user may use different combinations of Integer, String fields and date fields etc. For example, the user can use Age and Date of Birth or Address and Telephone number as a Unique Key. Unique Key can be defined to a maximum limit of five fields in a list.

Note: Unique key can be defined only in a parent table.
