Activity Description
The Scheduler Activity can be used to schedule a task at a specified time, set on the basis of weekly, daily as well as hourly schedules. The output of the activity can be linked to the next activity. There is an option to set the recurrence count so that the user can restrict the number of recurrences.
Activity Properties
The Scheduler activity has to be configured by specifying appropriate values for the different properties in the Activity Properties area. The Activity Properties can be accessed by clicking on the Activity Properties tool in the tool bar or by selecting the appropriate option from the right click menu for the Scheduler activity. The Activity Properties are organized under the following groups of related properties. The properties under each group are described in this topic.
Name & Description
The properties in the Name & Description group have been described below. You can use these properties to specify the name and description for the activity.
Name - This property can be used to specify a name for the activity.
Property Type: Optional (This property needs to be set only if necessary.)
Description - This property specifies a brief description to be displayed for the activity.
Property Type: Optional (This property needs to be set only if necessary.)
Configuration
The properties in the Configuration group have been described below. You can use these properties to configure the functionality of the activity.
Scheduler Details - The Scheduler Details property allows the user to specify the time settings for scheduling the specific workflow activity.
Property Type: Mandatory (This property must be set if the activity is to be executed.)
Steps to set the Scheduler Details property
-
To specify the Scheduler Details, click the button for the 'Scheduler Details' property to open the property window.
-
Click on one of the three tabs - Weekly, Time Span, and Date Criteria - to set the corresponding property value.
-
By default, the first tab, i.e. Weekly, is selected and the corresponding user interface is shown. You can specify the weekly schedule settings here.
-
Select the day of the week on which the activity is to be scheduled from the Time drop down.
-
Next specify the time at which the scheduled activity should be executed on the selected day in the hh:mm:ss field in the "hh:mm:ss" format.
-
Now, click the Recurring? check box to schedule the activity to recur.
-
If it is to recur more than once, specify the count in the Recurrence Factor/Count field.
-
If the count is set to '0' then the activity keeps on recurring.
-
If it is set to '2' the activity ends after the second recurrence.
-
If it is set to '1' or 'NO' the activity recurs only once.
-
-
If the Time Span tab is clicked, it displays the corresponding user interface. You can specify a time span for the execution of the activity here.
-
Enter the time interval of the schedule in the first field, in the "d.hh:mm:ss" format, where "d" denotes the number of days the schedule is set for while the time setting denotes the number of hours, minutes, or seconds. For example, if this value is set as 0.00:30:00, the activity will be executed every 30 minutes. If it is set as 1.00:30:00, the activity will be executed every 1 day and 30 minutes or 24 hours and 30 minutes.
-
Click the Recurring? check box to schedule the activity to recur.
-
If it is to recur more than once, specify the count in the Recurrence Factor/Count field.
-
If the Date Criteria tab is clicked, it displays the corresponding user interface. You can specify a date based schedule here.
-
Here, the date value can be selected using Content or Variable collection or by entering discrete values.
-
After specifying the value you must select one of two options - "Initiate before" or "Initiate after" - from the next drop down and then specify the time interval in number of days in the field provided.
-
After making all the schedule settings, click Update to save the settings.
