Create a project/dept

The task of creating a new project/dept can only be performed by users that have the Project/Dept - Create New permission. This permission is granted by your Administrator. As the project/dept creator, you will be the administrator of this project/dept. As the administrator of the project/dept you are responsible for the maintenance of the project/dept. You have special permissions within the project which includes being the only user that can delete the project/dept.

To create a project/dept:

  1. Open the navigation bar. If necessary, click the Manage tab.

  2. From the Admin menu, select Project/Dept Maintenance.

    The Project/Dept Maintenance page is displayed.

  3. If necessary, select the business unit to which you want to add a project/dept, from the drop-down list.

  4. Click the Create a Project/Dept button.

    The Create Project/Dept page is displayed.

  5. Enter information as required in the relevant fields.

    Note Fields marked with an asterisk fa-asterisk are required.

    Description

    Reference

    The reference for the new project/dept.

    This must be unique within the organization.

    Name

    The name of the new project/dept in the field.

    This must be unique within the organization.

    Country

    The country of operation for the new project/dept.

    By default, this is the user's country. It becomes the default for tenders and contracts created in this project/dept.

    Currency

    The default currency for the new project/dept.

    By default, this is the user's currency. It becomes the default for tenders and contracts created in this project/dept.

    Project Budget

    The value of the project budget.

    Total AFE Cover

    The value of the Authorized For Expenditure cover.

    Project Start Date

    Click the icon to enter the start date for the project.

    Target End Date

    Click the icon to enter the project's planned end date.

    Main Cost Code

    The main cost code for the project/dept.

    Comments

    Any additional comments relating to the project/dept.

    Email Footer

    The text which will appear at the bottom of any emails sent from the project/dept.

    Note This overwrites any email footer text added at the Site Configuration or Business Unit Level.

    Set as my preferred Project/Dept

    Select to set the new project/dept as preferred.

  6. All business unit level users are listed on the Project/Dept Maintenance page and selected for inclusion in the project team by default. Clear the check boxes for those users who are not part of the new project team.

    Note Disabled users are listed but cannot be selected.

  7. Click Save.

    A message confirming the creation of the new project/dept is displayed.
