Global search

Using global search (also known as quick search), users can search the whole of AVEVA Contract Risk Management for key words or phrases. The results that are returned are limited to the information a user has permission to access based on the user role assigned to the user, the projects, tenders and contracts of which the user is a team member or has a contract role for, and the level of access that has been granted to the user as a member of these teams and contract roles.
Global search allows users to search not only data held in AVEVA Contract Risk Management fields and custom fields, but also the contents of attached documents or library documents including text-based PDF documents.
Note The contents of image-based PDF documents (e.g. scanned documents) cannot be searched using global search.
To search for a word or phrase using global search:
-
Click
Search on the navigation bar.
-
Select Quick Search from the Search drop-down list.
-
Enter the search text or value.
Tip Enter the * character to perform a wildcard search.
-
Click the
icon or press the Enter key.
The Search page is displayed listing all matches.
-
Use the hyperlinks to navigate to the details pages of the matches.
See Global search results for full details of possible search results.
Search terms
Note The following apply to global search only.
Global search offers a full text search:
-
Simple logic can be used to search for multiple terms:
-
AND and + - Search for items that have both terms in the same field (e.g. in the title or name).
-
OR or | - Search for items that have either term.
-
-
Global search is not case-sensitive. Punctuation is ignored.
-
You can search for all words beginning with specific text by using *; for example, pro* returns results for product, professional and project.
-
A search term is ignored if it only contains stopwords (including numbers) and the following characters:
~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ { } [ ] : ; " ' | \ < > . ? /
Tip Filenames which contain underscores are treated by the full text search as single words, e.g. Source_Template.docx is treated as SourceTemplate.docx.
Use hyphens instead to ensure that words are treated individually by the search, e.g. Source and Template can be searched for separately for Source-Template.docx.
See Numbers and Stopwords below for more information.
-
Quotation marks around search text are not required unless the term includes the words AND or OR (see the examples).
