Changing Resource Account Credentials

This topic provides information about the settings to be used when the authenticated user credentials are changed.

Settings to be used after changing the resource account credentials to log on to AVEVA Work Tasks sites.

Settings to connect to the Enterprise Console:

  • Changing Database User Settings for Windows Authentication

  • Changing SQL User Credentials for SQL Authentication

Settings to connect to the Central Configuration:

  • Changing Password of SQL User Credentials used to Connect to Repository Data Source

    If the password of impersonation user that is used for AVEVA Work Tasks SharePoint services authentication is changed, follow the steps for resetting the password in this link.

  • Changing a Web Service Authentication User

    If the password is modified by the user then the same should be modified using Enterprise Console, Central Configuration and SharePoint. If this is not done the user will not be able to login to any of the AVEVA Work Tasks sites.

Changing Database User Settings for Windows Authentication

  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to AVEVA, and then click Farm Configuration Wizard.

    The Welcome to the AVEVA Work Tasks Farm Configuration Wizard appears.

  2. Click Next.

    The Edit AVEVA Work Tasks Farm Settings screen appears.

  3. Select Database User Settings.

  4. Click Next.

    The Database User Settings screen is displayed.

  5. Enter the updated User Name, Password and Domain.

  6. Click OK. A message to ensure that the login has required permissions is displayed.

  7. Click OK. A message indicating Database User settings edited successfully is displayed.

  8. Click OK.

Changing SQL User Credentials for SQL Authentication

  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to AVEVA, and then click Farm Configuration Wizard.

    The Welcome to the AVEVA Work Tasks Configuration Wizard appears.

  2. Click Next.

    The Edit AVEVA Work Tasks Farm Settings screen appears.

  3. Click Database Settings.

    The Connect to existing database screen appears.

  4. From the Connection String option, modify the User Id and Password for connecting to the database.

  5. Click Test Connection.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Click Next. The user credentials are updated.

    Changing Password of SQL User Credentials used to Connect to Repository Data Source

    1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to AVEVA, and then click Central Configuration.

      The AVEVA Work Tasks Central Configuration page appears.

    2. Click Datasource Settings. The Datasource List appears.

    3. From the Datasource column, click the required data source to be modified. The Manage Datasource page appears.

    4. From the Connection String option, modify the User ID and Password field.

    5. Click OK. This will change the password of SQL user credentials.

      Changing a Web Service Authentication User

      1. From the Resource Provider drop down box, select the authentication provider for the AVEVA Work Tasks Repository selected from the previous step.

      2. Enter the Login Name and Password.

      3. Click Authenticate. After successful authentication, the screen to Re-Authenticate users appears.

        You can Re-Authenticate with a different user credential if the authenticated user details does not have the required permissions.

        You can either select, create or edit an impersonation user from the Select User drop down box, Create New User or Edit User option respectively. Follow the steps below to:

        • Create/add a new impersonation user

        • Edit an impersonation user

        Adding the Impersonation User

        The following steps will assist you to add a new impersonation user.

        1. Click Create New user.

        2. Enter Display Name.

        3. Enter Login Name and Password.

        4. Click Save.

          A windows authenticated login name and Password should be provided. The login name must be preceded with the domain name.

          Editing the Impersonation User

          Using Enterprise Console

          The following steps can be used to create or modify an impersonation user using the Enterprise Console.

          1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to AVEVA, and then click Central Configuration.

            The AVEVA Work Tasks Central Configuration page appears.

          2. Click Repository Settings. The Repository List page appears.

          3. From the Site Path column, click on the required Repository.

          4. Log on to the Enterprise Console.

          5. On the Enterprise Console menu, point to Settings, and then click Impersonation User.

          6. Click New to create a new user. The New User screen appears.

            Alternatively, to edit an existing user select the required user and click Edit, or alternatively select Edit User from the context menu.

          7. Enter the Display Name, Account Name, and Password.

          8. Click Save. A message indicating Impersonation user saved successfully appears.

            If the Password is modified in the Active Directory then the same should be modified using the Enterprise Console or SharePoint. If this is not done the workflows will fail. The changes will take affect only after 3 minutes in the Workflow Engine.

          9. Repeat Step 2 to Step 10 for all repositories where the impersonation user is used.

          10. Reset IIS to clear the cache.

            Using Microsoft SharePoint Central Administration

            1. Select the required user to be edited from the Select User drop down box.

            2. Click Edit User.

            3. Modify the password by entering the new password.

            4. Click Save. The changes are updated in the Database.

              Users can also create or edit impersonation user through the Enterprise Console.
