BPMN End Event with Compensation

The End Event with Compensation represents the type of event that stops a process flow, cancels the transaction that is running at that time, generates the compensation event, and performs a full roll back. It is denoted by a left-pointing double arrowhead symbol (similar to the symbol for rewind) superimposed on the End Event symbol, i.e. the circle with thick outline.

Mapping of Visio BPMN Event to the AVEVA Work Tasks Activity

The End Event with the Compensation result attribute is mapped to the Compensate Transaction Activity, which is represented by a red circle similar to the End Activity superimposed with a left-pointing double arrowhead symbol.

The following mapping will be used during the conversion,

  • Only the End Events with the Compensation result attribute and no outlinks will be mapped to the Compensate Transaction Activity.

  • On reaching this activity the current running transaction is canceled, the compensation event is generated, and full rollback is performed.

Validation

  • Outlinks (links originating from the Activity) are not allowed from the Cancel Transaction Activity.

  • This activity can be used only within a transaction block.
