Create a Resource Mapping

Use the New option to map roles, map users, or map specific users from a role to different security groups. If you map a role to a security group, then all the users of that role will be mapped to the assigned Security Group. You can also map specific users from a role to a security group.

Mapping Roles: This allows the user to map a role to a specific security group.

To map role with a security group:

  1. In the Security Group Mapping page, click New on the action bar. The Security Group Resource Mapping page appears.

  2. Click the Map Roles tab to map the selected role with a security group.

  3. In the Role Lookup field, enter the role to map the selected role with a security group. Use the Role Lookup window to search for the required role.

  4. In the Security Group drop-down list, select the security group to map with the selected role. For example, select 'Contributor' from the Security Group drop-down list.

  5. In the Priority text box, enter the priority. For example, enter the priority as '4'.

  6. Click Save to map the resource. The message Resource mapping is saved successfully appears.

  7. Click OK. The selected role is mapped with the security group, and all the rights of the group are applied.

    Note: If the logged-in user belongs to multiple roles, the least priority will be considered

Mapping Users: This allows the user to map an individual user to a specified security group.

To map users with a security group

  1. In the Security Group Mapping page, click New on the action bar. The Security Group Resource Mapping page appears.

  2. Click the Map Users tab to map the user with a security group. The Mapping : User to a Security Group page appears.

  3. In the User Lookup field, enter the user to map the selected user with a security group. Use the User Lookup window to search for the required role.

  4. In the Security Group drop-down list, select the security group to map with the selected user. For example, select 'Limited Access'.

  5. Click Save to map the resource. The message Resource mapping is saved successfully appears.

  6. Click OK. The selected user is mapped with the security group, and all the rights of the group are applied.

    Note:
    - The same user cannot be mapped with multiple security groups at the same level.
    - The users with special characters ^ ( ) ' < cannot be mapped with the security group.

    Mapping Users from Role: This allows the user to map specific users from a role to a specified security group.

    To map users from a role with a security group

    1. In the Security Group Mapping page, click New on the action bar. The Security Group Resource Mapping page appears.

    2. Click the Map Users from Role tab to map the user from a specific role with a security group. The Mapping : User from Role to a Security Group page appears.

    3. In the Role Lookup field, select the role from which the users need to be mapped with a security group and then click List Users.

    4. In the the Select Users from Role list box, select the users to be mapped with the security group.

    5. In the Security Group drop-down list, select the security group to map with the selected user. For example, select 'Limited Access'.

    6. Click Save to map the resource. The message Resource mapping is saved successfully appears.

    7. Click OK. The selected user is mapped with the security group, and all the rights of the group are applied.

      Note:
      - The same user cannot be mapped with multiple security groups at the same level.
      - The users with special characters ^ ( ) ' < cannot be mapped with the security group.
