Enterprise Console and Central Configuration are virtual applications [or Virtual Directories] of a Website.

Virtual Applications URL contains the port number of a Website. Virtual applications always inherit the port number of a Website.

If the Website's port number (for the http binding) is changed, then automatically, Virtual Applications inherit the new port number (changed port number).

Example:

Consider the name of the Website is "Telematics" and it has the following two Virtual Applications:

  • CentralConfig

  • EnterpriseConsole

URL of "Telematics" Website is http://<computer123:8000/

Port number of http/https binding of the Telematics Website is 8000

Change the port number of the Telematics website to 8009

URL of Telematics Website and its Virtual Applications- Before change

  • Website URL: http://computer123:8000/

  • Central Configuration URL: http://computer123:8000/CentralConfig

  • Enterprise Console URL: http://computer123:8000/EnterpriseConsole

URL of Telematics Website and its Virtual Applications -After Change

  • Website URL: http://computer123:8009/

  • Central Configuration URL: http://computer123:8009/CentralConfig

  • Enterprise Console URL: http://computer123:8009/EnterpriseConsole

There are three ways to create the Website (under which we are going to create Enterprise Console and Central Configuration) with the desired port number:

  • Create the Website with the Desired Port Number Through Farm Configuration Wizard

  • Use an Existing Website

  • Change the Port Number of AVEVA Work Tasks Sites
