Enable Security at ListItem Level

  • Last UpdatedNov 24, 2023
  • 2 minute read

By enabling security at listitem level, you can overwrite the security definition at the list or repository level. For example, the user who has contributor rights at the 'Workflow' list level can have administrator rights at the 'Workflow' listitem level.

There are two ways to enable security at the listitem level:

  • By enabling Resource Mapping

  • By customizing the Security Group definitions

What happens when Listitem level mapping is enabled?

From this point, first it will look at the resource mapping available at the Listitem level. It will not look at the mapping available for the List level or Repository level because Listitem has its own security.

The list item security will copy from the resource mapping available at the List level, if the mapping is available, otherwise it will copy from the repository level.

To apply security settings at the ListItem level

  1. Log on as the administrator user.

  2. In the Enterprise Console, click menu icon, and then select any list item. For example, select any list item inside the Workflows list.

  3. Click the listitem, and then click Security Settings from the context menu to set security at the ListItem level. The  security settings page appears. By default, the Standard Settings tab is selected.

  4. Click the Advanced Settings tab to view the advanced settings options. You can enable list item specific security here.
